Yard Sale – Mid April. As you begin working in
your yard, please consider potting up at least 10 plants for our Plant
Sale. Sue Davis had volunteered to have this years Plant sale at her home.
Sue is on vacation in Hawaii and not present at this months meeting. Angela
will confirm with Sue when she returns. This year the club will also be
selling small clay flower pots that many of the Garden Club members have
painted. Special thanks for Don Wood to get them sprayed and dried in
his garage so they are ready to paint. Since we don’t have much
time during the meeting to paint the pots, it was suggested to take pots
home and paint. 4 or 6 would be great. Another suggestion was to add small
plants to the pots, would increase the value. We need to get them started
to produce a good root system. The more the better. The club does have
some paint available to paint the pots.
March
Outing - SOHO Nurseys – Angela will contact owner of Northwest
Native Nursery and arrange for a weekend activity. She is thinking possible
March.

For February Meeting
Hello Everett Garden Club members. For the program at the February club
meeting, we will be discussing pruning in the garden. Fruit tree pruning
is the area that comes to my mind every year about this time, but other
plants often need pruning also. We will start with a general discuss of
the topic (for instance, do you know what the four Ds are and how they
relate to pruning?) and progress to specific guidelines. In addition,
we would like to answer specific questions that the membership may have
relating to pruning their garden. In order to be able to answer your questions,
we would appreciate knowing about them in advance.
Therefore, if you have a question about pruning - either general or specific
to a given plant - or a situation you would like help with, we would be
happy to do a little research before the meeting and come prepared with
an answer.
Please forward your questions/situations to me either via Email (richard.d.fairfield@boeing.com)
or in plant mail at MS 02-44. If you could take and send a digital picture
of your problem plant, that would help both with understanding the situation
and in presenting a solution.
The meeting will be on February 24 so please get the questions to me by
the 17th so we will have time for the research.
Thanks in advance Richard Fairfield

Info –
Around the room, Ken and Valerie shared they planted 300 Tulips, then
used Alfalfa pellets over the beds, also good for roses. It’s inexpensive
and you can get it from the Co-Op a food grade, or get the type that is
sold to feed rabbits.
Jennifer shared her Witch Hazel is blooming, it’s the red blossom.
Question from Chuck? What to do with the Paper Whites Narcissus bulbs?
If you have a solution
Chuck would love to hear from you. Send him an email. Chuck Causey chuckcausey2@msn.com
Valerie
and Ken shared, they are going to put their PaperWhites out on the Deck
and wait to see what happens.
