El’Nino is weakening. The impact for us in the Northwest: less snow in the mountains during the winter, means less water for our plants, lawns, trees, etc. When planning your spring planting look for drought resistance plants. See your local nursery for more Info.

February 24, 2005 Meeting Minutes.

Meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm

New Membership – We introduced Maimun H. Ringold. Maimun expressed she is interested in our garden club to learn more about plants. She redid her garden and put in a pond. Do you suppose her favorite flower is a rose? She said she had at least 20.
Welcome to our group, Maimun.

Activity Calendar.
Plant Sale Discussion –
Each member is to bring at least 10 plants.
Place: Sue Davis’s house
When: April 16th
Where: 7238 192nd PL SW, Lynnwood, 98036 425-640-6461
Time: 10 – 3 pm.

Pots can be taken home to paint. Pots will be for sale with or without plants.
July – Potluck to be at the Fairfield's on July 23rd. This is a Saturday. It will be a potluck, garden tour and wine tasting. It was not definitely decided if we would still have our Thursday meeting, July 28th. This is to be discussed at a future meeting.

Club dues were discussed. We did receive many the night of this meeting.

Old Business

Bank Account – Barb reported out in detail our Savings and Checking. Balance is $521.54in Savings; $64.51 in Checking. Total = $586.05

New Business

OSO – NW Native Nursery (out of Arlington)
There was a discussion about visiting this Nursery on March 5th. This is the only day they could accommodate our group. Angela gathered about 10-12 members to visit the Nursery The topic will be propagation. Way to go, Angela!

Activity Program - Pruning
Richard and Jennifer Fairfield (members of the Garden Club) did an absolutely wonderful presentation on pruning. They had a detailed slide presentation that described why prune, tools, plant responses, cuts, timing and common plants to prune. Paper copies of the presentation hasve great information about when to prune and how to prune some of our favority plants. Thank you very much Richard and Jennifer. We hope you had fun putting your presentation together.

Angela brought a weed tool to share and give to the Fairfield's for their presentation this evening.

Driving Instructions
From I-5
Take NE 45th ST exit go East through the University District, past the UW campus, down the viaduct hill and past University Village Mall. At the next major intersection (5-way stoplight) turn right (south) onto Mary Gates Memorial Drive. Continue the equivalent of two blocks to the corner of NE 41st Street. The center is on your right in the bend of the road.
